FREE PATTERN: RAINBOW RATTLE/TEETHING RING

MATERIALS

• Stylecraft Naturals Organic Cotton in the colours Poppy, Leaf, Azure and Amethyst
• Rico Designs Creative Cotton in colours Orange(74) and Yellow(68)
• Bell or rattle (see video tutorial for what I use)
• Toy stuffing
• 2.5mm Crochet Hook
• Darning Needle
• Scissors

WRITTEN PATTERN

• In the colour Amethyst ch 8
• Row 1 – 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in the next 4 sts, 1dc inc in the next three sts, 1dc in the remaining 5 sts, ch 1 and turn [16sts]
• Row 2 – 1dc in every st on the last st of this row make the colour change to Blue on your last pull through (see video tutorial if you are unsure of how to do this) ch 1 and turn[16sts]
• Row 3 – 1dc in the 1st 5 sts, 1dc inc in the next 6 sts, 1dc in the remaining 5 sts, ch 1 and turn [22sts]
• Row 4 – 1dc in every st on the last st of this row make the colour change to Green on your last pull through, ch 1 and turn [22sts]
• Row 5 – 1dc in the 1st 5 sts, *1dc, 1dc inc* Repeat 5 times, 1dc in the remaining 5 sts, ch 1 and turn [28 sts]
• Row 6 – 1dc in every st on the last st of this row make the colour change to Yellow on your last pull through, ch 1 and turn [28sts]
• Row 7 – 1dc in the 1st 5 sts, *1dc, 1dc, 1dc inc* Repeat 5 times, 1dc in the remaining 5 sts, ch 1 and turn [34sts]
• Row 8 – 1dc in every st on the last st of this row make the colour change to Orange on your last pull through, ch 1 and turn [34sts]
• Row 9 – 1dc in the 1st 5 sts, *1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc inc* Repeat 5 times, 1dc in the remaining 5 sts, ch 1 and turn [40sts]
• Row 10 – 1dc in every st on the last st of this row make the colour change to Red on your last pull through, ch 1 and turn [40sts]
• Row 11 – 1dc in the 1st 5 sts, *1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc inc* Repeat 5 times, 1dc in the remaining 5 sts, ch 1 and turn [46sts]
• Row 12 – 1dc in every st [46sts] *the 1st rainbow that you make ch1 and fasten off but do not cut the yarn at the end of making the 2nd rainbow we will use this yarn to join the 2 rainbows
• 13 – place both the rainbows together with right side facing out place 1 dc in every st around (across the straight edge place one st per Row and place 2 dc in each corner remembering to fill the rattle with the stuffing and rattle before you completely join the two sides
• 14 – in the 20th st from the corner attach the red yarn and place 1dc and 1dc in the next 7 sts ch 1 and turn [8sts]
• 15 – place 1dc in every st [8sts] repeat this until you can wrap the strap around your wooden ring (I did 12 rows) ch1 and fasten off leaving enough yarn for assembly
• 16 – pull the strap through the wooden ring and sew the strap together securely
