Love Rocs Rainbow Baby Blanket

I hope that you all enjoy this modern take on a classic chevron baby blanket. I really wanted to design a Rainbow baby blanket and loving textured crochet I added the crab stitch to this blanket to bring the colour, texture and the twist on the classic.

The Crab stitch is usually used as a border to a project due to it being a difficult stitch to work into but it has worked perfectly to turn a plain chevron blanket into something a little bit more special and unique. As always the full written pattern is below and you will also find the video tutorial for further support……. ENJOY!!!!!!!!

All odd numbered rows through out this pattern are right side and even numbered rows are wrong side facing

Special Stitches

The Crab st is also known as reverse double crochet [UK] or reverse single crochet [US} it is a beautiful stitch which adds texture to the Love Rocs Blanket. (you normally see this stitch used in borders as it is a difficult st to work into) however I felt it worked perfectly to add colour, texture and a modern feel to our beautiful blanket 🙂

Treat this stitch exactly like a double crochet, except that you are working into the stitch to the RIGHT of your hook (not the left).

To start the Crab ST row, Sl ST into the 1st FL, next insert hook into the next FL stitch to the right.

Pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on hook. First crab stitch made. Continue in the same manner for the remainder of the row, until you reach the last st, Sl ST into the last FL ch1, Fasten off and weave your loose ends in.
