Hi everybody, Hope you have all had a great week and ready to sit back, relax and enjoy this weeks free crochet pattern from Rocco Baby Crochet to make these beautiful snowflake decorations :))))))
I have decided to turn mine into tree decorations but they could easily be turned into festive bunting or look great dotted around your home and used as coasters throughout the festive period.
As always this written pattern is supported by a YouTube tutorial and is beginner friendly, lots of fun and a really fast little project for you.
Materials
- Yarn – Rico Design Fashion Cotton Metallise DK
- 4mm Crochet Hook
- Darning Needle
- Scissors
- stitch markers (If you find it easier to mark the first stitch of each round
Abbreviations
I use UK terminology throughout my tutorials, the US equivalent is listed here next to the UK abbreviations
- MR – Magic Ring
- sl st – Slip Stitch
- Ch – Chain
- sp – Space
- inc – Increase
- sk st – Skip a stitch
- dc – Double Crochet (US single Crochet)
- tc – Treble Crochet (US Double Crochet)
Notes
- Unless otherwise stated place your 1st st of each round in the same st that the ch1 is coming from
YAY ITS TIME TO GRAB A CUPPA AND YOUR HOOKS AND LETS GET STARTED
- make a mr
- Round 1 – Place 6dc into the mr, pull the loose end to close the mr, sl st to 1st st to join and ch1 [6tst]
- Round 2 – Place 1 dc inc into every st around, sl st to the 1st st to join and ch1 [12sts]
- Round 3 – *1dc, 1dc inc* Repeat 5 times, sl st to the 1st st to join and ch1 [18sts]
- Round 4 – *dc, dc, dc, ch3* Repeat 5 times, sl st to join and ch1 [18sts, not including the ch3’s]
- Round 5 – dc into the 2nd st, sk st, then into the ch 3 sp place 2tc ch3 and 2 more tc, *sk st, dc, sk st, then into the ch3 sp place 2tc then ch3 then 2tc* Repeat 4 times sl st to the 1st st to join and ch1 [30sts, not including the ch3’s]
- Round 6 – starting in the 2nd st dc, sk st, into the ch sp place a dc then ch3, dc back into the ch sp then ch5 dc back into the ch sp and ch 3 then place one last dc into the ch sp *sk st, 1dc into the next3 sts, sk st then into the ch sp place a dc then ch3, dc back into the ch sp then ch5 dc back into the ch sp and ch 3 then place one last dc into the ch sp* Repeat 4 times sk st then place 1dc into the last st, slip st to the 1st st to join and ch1 [35sts not including the chs]
If you are wanting to make coasters then you would stop here, fasten off, weave in the loose ends and voila you now have a beautiful festive coaster 🙂
- Hanger – ch 20 and then sl st back into the same st, ch1, fasten off and weave in the loose ends…………
